Jennie & Jason Engaged – Heber, Utah

August 16th, 2011

I photographed Jennie and Jason in the wild grass of the open space behind their home in Heber, Utah with Mount Timpanogas in the background. A mild storm provided some nice light and a little bit of rain for us. Also pictured are their dogs in order of appearance: Boo, Figgy, Cinder, and Churchill. I will be photographing Jennie and Jason’s wedding at Deer Valley Resort in September.

Full selection and prints are available here.

Jenny & Jake’s Engaged – Park City, Utah

August 1st, 2011

Jenny and Jake brought their tandem bicycle up to Park City for their engagement shoot. Getting the extra long bike into their car was quite an effort but worth it to escape the heat of Salt Lake City. I will be photographing their wedding this October at Sundance Resort. Prints are available here.

Madalene & Sam – Engagment Session and Short Short Fiction – Denver, Colorado

May 25th, 2011

I was in Colorado recently and did an engagement session with Madalene and Sam, whose wedding I will be photographing in July in Fort Collins, Colorado. We did a vintage themed shoot and Madalene wrote some short fiction to accompany the pictures! Locations include Union Station, The Brown Palace, and The Denver Public Library.

It wasn’t long after Pearl Harbor that Sam, having a drink after a long day in the machinist’s shop caught Madalene’s eye.  She was enjoying writing about the uptick in jobs in the U.S. now with the war starting, but it wasn’t all good news, and she didn’t know where her own job as a reporter would take her next.

Still, Sam was funny and warm. Their first date took them to a more upscale bar, where they sipped sidecars and talked getting ready for war. They visited museums, discussed their love of gardening and dogs, and laughed together as they explored the bustling city. It hardly felt like a day when three weeks into their blossoming romance, Madalene got the call. The Times needed a war correspondent, and they wanted her in Europe next week.

Sam was beside himself. He loved working as a machinist, but had dreams of moving to a farm where together they could raise trained dogs for hunting rodents, and garden together. With Madalene packing for what was certain to be a long stay in Europe, would their romance survive?

His entreaties were no match for the exciting position Madalene knew she could expect in Europe. Their country needed her now. They tearfully said goodbye at the train station. On both of their minds was the patient but delicate possibility, would they reunite sometime in the future, and make their dreams come true?

Adrianne & Matt’s Engagement Photos – Salt Lake City, Utah

May 21st, 2011

I photographed Adrianne and Matt’s engagement session on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail with their dogs. For those of you not lucky enough to live in Salt Lake City, the Shoreline Trail is about a ten minute drive or short bike ride from where I live. These were taken last month when it was snowing constantly in the mountains – but the peaks look like this even now as it is STILL snowing up there. I am looking forward to photographing Adrianne and Matt’s wedding at Log Haven this summer.

Sarah and Ryan Engaged (with Pilot!) – Park City, Utah

February 18th, 2011

I was so flattered when Sarah, the talented photographer behind Sparkle Photography, asked me to photograph engagement pictures for her and Ryan and their dog Pilot. Sarah and Ryan have recently moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, but were back in Park City recently. We started at Ryan’s family’s house and then went to the old downtown of Park City. It was a very cold day so we ducked into Le Bar Boheme for a much needed hot drink. Sarah and Ryan passed up the traditional big wedding and eloped on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola at Whistler Blackcomb, BC! Their friend Annie made an amazing animated announcement that tells the story of their elopement ceremony. Congratulations Sarah and Ryan!
