About Michael Tallman
It was not until late in my college education that I first picked up a camera. I was about to embark on a
long road trip with a good friend when I decided I should take a photography class so that I could take some
decent pictures out on the road. Before I even left for that trip I was hooked. Things that were previously
ordinary to me like my breakfast cereal or a hubcap were transformed into something magical when photographed.
Photography very quickly became much more than a hobby for me, and it eventually became clear that it would be my
life's work. My education in photography has included years of working in and managing a university darkroom facility,
assisting other top notch professional photographers, and workshops with renowned instructors.
I have been photographing professionally for about five years. I enjoy the personal connections I make and creative potential when making photographs for private wedding and portrait clients. I also enjoy working on my own personal photography projects when I can. I continue to learn new techniques and explore new directions for my photography. My personal photography work has been exhibited in Colorado, New Mexico, Vermont and New York.
I recently relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah from Vermont with my wife Leah and our yellow lab Sage. When I'm not making or working on photographs I'm probably out skiing, hiking or cooking something delicious.
Please contact me or call me at 801-879-2989 if you are interested in speaking with me about a wedding, portrait, or any other type of photography assignment.
